Position Title: Commission Aide
Pay rate is $28.50
Work Location: Martin Admin Building 2401 SE Monterey, Stuart, FL
Schedule: 8:00am to 5:00pm with an hour lunch
Position is CONTRACT through reSOURCE Government Service (RGS offers benefits, PTO and holiday pay)
Must be able to pass criminal background and drug testing
SUMMARY:
Highly responsible administrative support and coordination for one of five County Commission Districts within the office of the County Administrator.
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Presents a positive and professional image in extensive dealings with the public and staff.
Serves as initial point of contact to citizens wishing to raise issues or concerns to the District Commissioner or County staff; addresses issues or coordinates resolution/follow-up, either at the Commissioner's direction or independently.
Performs responsible administrative/secretarial support.
Receives and routes telephone calls, answering questions which may involve the interpretation of policies and procedures; reviews concerns with the Commissioner and forwards to staff for response.
Takes dictation and transcribes letters/various documents for the Commissioner.
Composes effective and accurate correspondence, after completing research on a request or question.
Maintains correspondence control logs for the Commissioner and follows up on response status with the appropriate staff.
Uses computer programs to maintain contact lists, calendar, and appointments.
Sets up meetings and conferences, handles travel arrangements, completes travel forms, and prepares reimbursements.
Prepares special distributions for district town meetings or other mailings.
At Commissioner's discretion may require some after-hours attendance at meetings or other functions.
Acts as liaison with numerous governmental agencies, constitutional officers, municipalities, committee and task force members, civic organizations, homeowner associations, and constituents.
Compiles and reviews all incoming Commission agenda packets for Board of County Commissioners meeting.
Compiles and reviews information for any Committee/Board meetings for which the Commissioner may be involved.
Receives and carries out work assignments and special projects from the Commissioner and/or the Director of Administration.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of current business practices and executive secretarial skills.
Knowledge of and use of computer program including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel (spreadsheets), Microsoft Word, etc.), KIVA, Documentum, and others.
Professional administrative skills, effective customer service skills, and strong computer skills.
Ability to contribute to a harmonious office atmosphere and to present a positive and professional image.
Ability to carry out appropriate duties independently and to make sound decisions.
Ability to acquire knowledge of the general operations and functions of the County and various outside agencies.
Ability to meet with the public in an effective and courteous manner.
Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals, internal and external to the County in stressful or difficult situations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels.
Ability to express oneself clearly, concisely, and accurately, both orally and in writing.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Must possess an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of responsible experience in administrative support.
Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License
